Hollywood FX contains a variety of effects including morphing

三D objects, and real-world objects which can't be found in

other packages. Hollywood FX is based on an open, modular 三D

architecture. It's design allows for new effects to be added

at any time, and allows for different 三D rendering engines to

be plugged-in in the future that take advantage of any new

technologies that appear.

Other products often use simulated 三D, rather than the true 三D

polygon rendering with calculated lighting, shadows, motion

blur, and spline based paths. Other products only include a

fraction of the effects that come with Hollywood FX, and those

effects are not nearly as customizable as Hollywood FX.

For transitions you will usually use HollywoodFX as a plugin

to your favorite nonlinear editor. After capturing video to

your hard drive (using a video capture/playback card), you

will set up two video clips in your editor's timeline, then

drag-and-drop a Hollywood FX transition into the timeline.

After setting your options (you can save your favorite

defaults), you render your nonlinear project, including any

Hollywood FX transitions, and play back the video through your

video capture/playback card.
